Mt. Bandarpunch (6316 m) is one of the most beautiful peaks in the western Garhwal Himalaya, located within the pristine Govind Pashu Vihar National Park.
The name “Bandarpunch,” meaning “Monkey’s Tail,” comes from Hindu mythology, where Lord Hanuman is believed to have rested in this region. The snow ridge resembles a monkey’s tail, giving the mountain its name.
The Bandarpunch massif includes:
- Bandarpunch I – 6316 m
- Bandarpunch II – 6102 m
- Kalanag (Black Peak) – 6387 m
The expedition combines trekking through dense forests, glacier travel, and moderate technical climbing. From the summit, climbers enjoy breathtaking views of Kalanag, Jogin Peaks, Sudarshan Parbat, Chandra Parbat, and Satopanth.
