Mt. Bhagirathi II (6512 m) is part of the majestic Bhagirathi Group of Peaks in the Gangotri region of Uttarakhand. The massif includes three prominent peaks:
- Bhagirathi I – 6856 m
- Bhagirathi II – 6512 m
- Bhagirathi III – 6454 m
These peaks rise dramatically above the Gangotri Glacier, forming one of the most spectacular mountain landscapes in the Indian Himalaya.
The expedition begins from the sacred town of Gangotri and follows the classic trekking route to Gaumukh, the source of the River Ganges. From there, climbers cross the glacier to reach Nandanvan Base Camp (4340 m), which offers panoramic views of iconic peaks like Shivling, Meru, Kedar Dome, and Bhagirathi massif.
The climb involves glacier crossings, steep snow slopes, and technical climbing sections requiring the use of ropes, crampons, and ice axes. This expedition is ideal for climbers aiming to gain experience in 6500-meter technical Himalayan peaks.
Participants must carry high-altitude insurance including rescue coverage.
